A Creator Series | Launches 8th March
NEUW presents ART/WORK
To celebrate the launch of our new collection, #NeuwArtWork spotlights a series of seven creatives in this season’s key fits and newest apparel.
Each from a diverse range of disciplines but united by their passion and independence, our Creators are captured by photographer and filmmaker Amanda Fordyce in a short film series that gets to the heart of their practices and perspectives. They are: dancers and movement directors Sakeema Peng Crook and Jonny Vieco; visual artists Benedikte Klüver and Jamiu Agboke; musicians Toby Corton and Alice Padron; and tattoo artist Diogo Rodrigues.
Over the coming weeks we will introduce you to them in a short-form film series that follows each creator as they let us into their worlds. From an at-home practice session with Alice’s DIY girl band ‘Platypus Complex’ before they hit the stage at a gig, to a day in the studio with Diogo as he gets ready to tattoo a client. Sakeema and Jonny meet for an intuitive dance session, while painters and real life partners Benedikte and Jamiu collaborate on a painting and Toby discusses how his visceral life experience and difference inspire his songwriting.
The denim fits they wear are as unique as they are, aligned effortlessly to their everyday creative uniforms. Like artist Benedikte in the Nico Straight who needs something she “can move and create in '' when completing her large-scale, instinctive colour paintings, or dancer Jonny in the Lou Slim, who prioritises comfort and freedom of movement. “Feeling comfortable and not restricted is important to me,” he says. “If I feel like I look good, I feel good."
A celebration of individuality, the Art/Work series highlights our driving purpose: to craft modern, lasting denim in a variety of fits to suit any preference – while celebrating different forms of creative self-expression and identity.
