NEUW presents ART/WORK

Featuring Benedikte Klüver & Jamiu Agboke

Why is Benedikte Klüver an artist? It’s simple: “I can’t not do it,” says the Slade Art School student, who was born in Denmark. For her, painting is a wholly instinctive process: “It's very intuitive,” she explains. It’s a different approach to that of her partner, fellow artist (plus curator) Jamiu Agboke, who was born in Nigeria and raised in the UK. “Mine is more observational, kind of still life-based.Bee’s more down to emotion and how colours relate to each other.”

For the #NeuwArtWork series, they collaborated on a canvas for the first time. “To build on each other's languages, it really puts us out of our own zones,” Klüver says. “It becomes like a puzzle that we both have to figure out,” adds Agboke. “We definitely learn off each other, big time.”

"I collect things. I like classic styles that I can use for a long time, and things I can move and create in."

"They’re one of the only jeans I’ve found that fit nicely around the top and aren’t tight around the thighs but still have a smart, and straight finish."

To celebrate the launch of our new collection, #NeuwArtWork spotlights a series of seven creatives in this season’s key fits and newest apparel. Each from a diverse range of disciplines but united by their passion and independence, our Creators are captured by photographer and filmmaker Amanda Fordyce in a short film series that gets to the heart of their practices and perspectives.
